Installing an artificial turf by yourself is not always easy. Especially if you are not prepared enough. In order to ensure that even your DIY project comes out perfectly, you need to have the right tools and know how to use them when installing artificial grass. Check out below to see a list of tools you will be needing for this task.

Turf Cutter or Shovel

Although a turf cutter is not the most essential item, it is easier than working manually to dig your garden. Having a turf cutter will save your time and energy so you do not have to spend too much time preparing the land or be too tired after doing all the work by hand. A turf cutter will help you get rid of any remaining grass on your lawn into sections making it easier to remove them. But if you do not prefer to work with a cutter and would rather do the work manually, then you can use a shovel to scoop out the grass and remove them to prepare the ground.

Hammer

A hammer is not the first thing that will come to anyone’s mind when they are thinking of tools that will help them to install artificial grass. But it will be useful when you add nails around the synthetic turf to hold it onto the ground. Especially if you are installing turf edging or U pins. So, if you are worried that that your grass turf will not come off at the edges and want to make sure, that it will be secure in the place, use a hammer and install the nails around the turf.

Tools to Measure

This includes a spirit level and a tape measure. A spirit level will ensure that the levels are correct and will avoid creating angles that are clumsy or disorganised. A tape measure always will come in handy to measure the size of your lawn. This will help you to make sure that you are purchasing the right amount of grass to fill up the instead space. Without measuring the dimensions right, you will not get the expected results.

Joining Tape, Adhesive and Glue Gun

These are the tools necessary to fit your grass at the desired place. A joining tape is a tape that in two sections of grass together. This will make sure that the joints are not visible and make it look natural. A joining adhesive is for ensuring that the synthetic grass is joint perfectly to the desired area. Although a glue gun is not an absolute necessity like the turf cutter, it will certainly make it easier to the adhesive.

Other Tools

Although the above tools are the basic tools you will need to install the grass, there are some other tools you need to have to make sure you have the perfect finishing. A handsaw to cut the timber edges if you are using them, a vibration plate, a knife or some good scissors to cut the edges of the grass, a leaf blower to clean out your lawn after the work and a wheelbarrow to help you with the ground preparation are some of them. While these tools too are not the most essential, they do make your work easier.

DIY-ing a task may sound exiting but you do have to put on a lot of thought and effort. Make sure to have the right tools by your side so you will not be disappointed by your effort.
